Failed Logins & Account Lockout

The Login Lockout feature adds an additional layer of security to both PensionPro and PlanSponsorLink. The Lockout feature prevents unauthorized users from making unlimited failed login attempts by locking the user's account.

Users will be given multiple attempts to login to PensionPro. Users will only become locked out of their account after multiple failed login attempts. 

PensionPro Login Lockout

After a failed login attempt, the following message will be displayed: 

"Your account will be locked after 5 consecutive unsuccessful login attempts. If you do not remember your password, please reset it.”

This message will be displayed after each failed login attempt, until login is successful. If the user has reached five failed login attempts, the following message will be displayed:

“You have attempted 5 consecutive unsuccessful logins. Your account is temporarily locked. You may try again after 5 minutes. If you do not remember your password, please reset it to regain access.”

Note: If the user has reached five failed login attempts, their account will be locked for five minutes.

 

Account Lockout

When a user's account is locked, an email will be sent to the user including the following information:

  • Subject: [Application Name] + “Login Activity”
  • Body: “An attempt to login with your username was unsuccessful 5 times and resulted in a temporary lock of your account. The last attempt was made from the following IP address: [IP address of last attempt]

 

Enable PlanSponsorLink Login Lockout

The Login Lockout feature will need to be enabled for PlanSponsorLink. To do so:

  1. From the Navigation Panel, select Maintenance > Preferences > PensionPro.
  2. Expand the General menu and select PlanSponsorLink.
  3. Click the Edit icon next to the Enable Login Lockout preference and select Yes from the dropdown.

An email will be sent to the Plan Sponsor if Login has been locked. The email Subject & Body when login is locked can be customized. To do so:  

  1. From the Navigation Panel, select Maintenance > Preferences > PensionPro.
  2. Expand the General menu and select PlanSponsorLink.
  3. Click the Edit icon next to the Login Locked Email Subject or Login Locked Email Body preferences.
  4. Make any edits and click Save.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Am I required to enable the Login Lockout feature for PlanSponsorLink or is this optional?
    A: No. the Login Lockout feature is optional and can be enabled or disabled by using the Enable Login Lockout Preference.
  • Q: If I do not remember my password, can I reset it after a failed login attempt?
    A: Yes. It is recommended to reset your password if you do not remember it so you do not become locked out of your account.
  • Q: If I become locked out of my account, when can I try logging in again?
    A: If you reach five failed login attempts, you will be locked out of your account for five minutes. After five minutes, you may attempt to login again.
