Adding and Editing Template Data Type List Values (Desktop)

Template List Values, also known as Data Types, are used in Project Templates Task Items as responses. Here users can customize the responses to Project Task Items that are chosen when a user completes a Task within a project.

Template Data Type

 

Adding a Template Data Type

  1. To add a Template Data Type click Maintenance > List Values and select the Template tab on the List Values screen.
  2. Click on the Add button next to the Template Data Type. An Add Template Data Type slider will appear.
  3. Complete the Display Name, enter a brief description, click the Active checkbox, and click Save.

 

Edit a Template Data Type

  1. To edit a Template Data Type click Maintenance > List Values and select the Template tab on the List Values screen.
  2. Click on the Edit button next to the Template Data Type. An Edit Template Data Type slider will appear.
  3. Complete the Display Name, enter a brief description, click the Active checkbox, and click Save.

 

Data Types

There are a few Data Types that have preformatted Answer Types. These Template Data Types should not be edited.

  • Checkbox - This Answer Type is a checkbox field.
  • Currency - This Answer Type is a number with two decimal in the currency format.
  • Date - This Answer Type is a date field.
  • Integer - This Answer Type is a whole number field that does not contain decimals.
  • None - This Answer type will not allow the user to enter value.
  • Decimal- This Answer Type is a decimal field.
  • Text - This Answer Type is a text field.

 

Template Data Type Data Values

Before users add the Template Data Type List Values they should confirm that the correct Template Data Type is displayed in the dropdown.

If a user has multiple values for a response to a Task Item, each response will need to be created. (For example, if the Template Data Type is Yes/No/NA, then the user will need to have a separate list value in the grid for Yes, No, and NA. 

 

Adding a Template Data Type List Value

  1. Click Maintenance > List Values and select the Template tab on the List Values screen.
  2. In the dropdown. make sure that the correct Data Template Type is displayed.
  3. Click on the Add button at the far right of the grid. An Add template Data Value slider menu will appear.
  4. Complete the Display Name, Description, click the Active checkbox, and click Save.

 

Editing a Template Data Type List Value

  1. Click Maintenance > List Values and select the Template tab on the List Values screen.
  2. Select the Template Data Type from the List Type dropdown menu.
  3. Click once on a Template Data Type List Value to highlight it. An Edit button will appear to the right of the grid.
  4. Click the Edit button at the far right of the grid. An Edit template Data Value slider menu will appear.
  5. Edit the Display Name, Description, and Active checkbox as desired. Click Save when complete.

As users create Data Type List Values, those List Values appear on the Answer Type dropdown menu for Project Task Items. Should users want a certain data field for an answer type, they should use one of the data types listed below when building a Project Template.

 

Waiting List Value

Waiting

Users can create a Data Type List Value of "Waiting." If Waiting is chosen as a response on a Project Task Item, "Waiting" will appear as the Task Status on the assigned user's dashboard. Waiting will also appear as the Task Status on Reports.
